We hope 2012 has been a successful year so far for all of you. Here at Acuity we have been working on our education programme for the next 12 months. There are some excellent courses planned for autumn and beyond – more details next week!

Over the course of the year we will be aiming to post up a regular feature called “Chairman’s Blog” where Ian Rough, Acuity Chair, will post up information for all who visit the News section. The first post is below, so stay tuned for further updates on courses and for future blog posts!

Message from Ian Rough:

Hello everyone

I recently found a very useful link for optometrists regarding what ophthalmic medications are available through pharmacies on the Minor Ailments Scheme. Also included in the below link is a referral form which I’m sure will be of assistance also

This information has been provided by the Community Pharmacy Scotland where there are other resources covering a number of areas:

http://www.communitypharmacyscotland.org.uk/nhs_care_services/ophthalmic_services.asp

Kind regards

Ian

In 2010 SCO carried out a survey of the Optometric profession to find out how we could improve our training courses while serving our members and reaching the newly qualified. After collating and reviewing the results you provided we have decided on a new name, and that is Acuity – Scotland’s Optometry Training Organisation.

However, this is not the only change. We aim to offer current and new members a better service, improved materials and of course discounts on the excellent courses we will be holding over the coming year.

In addition, all at Acuity would like to offer our congratulations to Acuity Office Manager Lorna Cameron, who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at Christmas 2010 – Mother and baby are doing very well.

We’d like to welcome Alastair Chivers to the Acuity team, who will be covering Lorna’s position while she is on maternity leave.
